Gas Fireplace

Gas fireplaces add ambience and warmth to any room of the home, all at the touch of a button. Enjoy the comfort of a fireplace in your home while benefiting from the cleanliness and efficiency a gas appliance offers. There are two kinds: direct vent and vent free gas fireplaces.

Direct vent fireplace is sealed (no air comes in or out of the room) and takes combustion air from outside through a vent.
Vent free fireplace takes combustion air directly from the room giving much more heat then direct vent or any other fireplace.

Electric fireplace

The fastest growing trend in the hearth industry, electric fireplaces bring instant ambience to any home. Electric fireplaces combine modern technology with old-world charm. With convenience and classic features combined you can create the warm, cozy atmosphere without the construction and care of a chimney fireplace. The electric fireplace comes with a thermostat which can be adjusted to suit personal preference. Keep in mind that the energy being supplied to the fireplace is converted into heat for the room. This therefore means this type of fireplace is 100% efficient. Electric fireplace is always cool to the touch which makes it an excellent choice when children are around.

Wood burning fireplaces

Wood burning fireplaces allow homeowners to enjoy the traditional aspects of a wood fire while benefiting from innovative technology in heating and efficiency. Very few basements come with a masonry fireplace. The other option is an insert wood burning fireplace. Installation of such fireplace is almost impossible since you need a chimney. You might have an existing one on your main floor giving you the option of installing another one in the basement right under it. There has to be enough room in the chimney for another vent.

Gel fueled fireplaces

Probably the most affordable on the market. Gel fuel is an all natural wood substitute, jelled alcohol that is 100% efficient and ecologically sound. Each can burns for two to three hours and can be reused until empty and produces up to 3,000 BTU's an hour. Since there is no chimney heat stays in the room, 100% heat efficiency. (However these are primarily decorative and not recommended as a heating device). Cost of a can of fuel is approximately $.85 per hour, most people burn 2-3 cans. Fuel can be shut down and saved for another time by replacing the can lid. Gel fueled fireplace is easy to install, economical and environmentally friendly.
