Popularity of Hardwood floors is coming back There is number of advantages that come from having wooden floors, they are easy to care for and clean, traditional style natural which adds value to your home. There are three ways to install hardwood floors: nail, staple or glue down method, as well as free floating. For basements we recommend free floating hardwood, or better yet, free floating engineered hardwood which is more resistant to moisture. For free floating floor installation, there is no need for a framed sub floor. High cost is the biggest disadvantage. |

| Ceramic tiles |

There is unlimited variety of tiles which you can use for your basement remodeling project. The most common are ceramic, stone and marble tiles. Installation is very time consuming therefore pretty expensive. ETI Remodeling recommends tiles in smaller areas like bathrooms and wet bars. Having tiles throughout the basement is not practical since basement concrete floors are already very cold and tiles are very good heat/cold conductors. It’s like walking on ice. Floor heating systems can be installed under the tiles but on a big area such an entire basement you’re looking at a little fortune.

Laminate flooring is known for easy maintenance and installation. It is moisture resistant and inexpensive. It has layered construction and it is made to be resistant to scratches, burns and dents. Made to look like real wood, it is the perfect substitute to hardwood. Different kinds of padding can be installed under the laminate which makes it warmer and softer to walk on. |

There are many types of carpets that you can choose from. ETI Remodeling team suggests that your carpet selection should depend on some factors. You should consider few things like stain resistance, durability, and easiness to clean. A carpet is an addition to the decoration that gives the room warmth, flare and personality. A carpet comes in many different styles, but mainly they fall into few categories: cut or loop pile and a carpet tile. In general, carpet is the most affordable flooring.

From our experience at ETI Remodeling the best flooring combination is ceramic tiles in the bathroom, laminate flooring in the bar area and carpet in the rest of the basement. |
