Our first example is kitchen on the wall which is most functional in a basement but also practical. The straight wall kitchen has all appliances, cabinets and the sink area on one wall. This layout is ideal for kitchens with limited floor and wall area. |

Another great idea for the kitchen is an Island Kitchen, but for these one you need much more space. All the appliances can be located on separate walls for maximum efficiency. An island cabinet is in the center of the room. The sink can be installed in the island cabinet for greater functionality. |

Wood is still the most popular choice of material, both in contemporary and more traditional kitchens. In a contemporary decor, light-colored woods such as birch, beech, yellow birch, and white or natural oak are being used in combination with metal surfaces such as stainless steel and aluminum.
